FAQ

Who can come to counseling?
Our counselors are available for all ages of children, teens, couples, any age adults and well as the whole family. We can help with any of the following problems: Anxiety, depression, history of trauma, including sexual and physical abuse, combat experience, refugee history, relationship problems, divorce or separation issues, bereavement and loss, school problems, behavioral issues, substance use and misuse, spiritual and/or philosophical ponderings and much more.
What area do you serve?
We are located on Ridge Rd E, conveniently centrally located to most of Monroe County. We have families come from all suburbs, including, Irondequoit, Greece, Webster, Penfield, Henrietta, Hilton, Fairport, Spencerport, Chili, Gates, and Pittsford.  We also do counseling and supervision over Skype for nonlocal clients.
What days and times are appointments available?
Sessions with a therapist are by appointment only, Monday- Saturday. Both day and evening appointments are available. Call the office to set up your appointment.
How much does it cost?
This varies as it depends on your individual health insurance and each therapist fee schedule. Call the office for detailed information.  We take some health insurances, the rest of the payment is out of pocket.
Do you accept medical insurance?
Some of us accept third party payment.  With health care changes, higher demands, and low reimbursement rates, this is becoming increasingly difficult.  Sometimes in the middle of our work, people change insurances or their employers change to insurances that we cannot accept.  While we are still available for continued care, clients are unfortunately responsible for payment should they chose to continue.  Co-payments often apply. All payments are due at the time of service.
How long is each counseling session?
Each therapy session is 45-50 minutes in length. At the initial session, clients are asked to come in 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time to review and complete standard intake forms.
How often are therapy sessions?
Everyone is different and often it depends on the client’s availability and desires. Scheduling the next therapy session if often decided at the end of each meeting. No one has to make a commitment and can decide anytime whether the meetings are helpful and if they want to continue.
How long does the therapy process last?
This also depends and is different for each family or individual. Often people meet here for a short time, because they feel better quite quickly, but the therapists are available for as long as needed.
Are you a doctor or social worker?
Jodi and Nancy are Licensed Clinical Social Workers. Peggy and Ted are Licensed Mental Health Counselors.
Do you see couples that are not married?
Yes, we see couples in any form of relationship! Please note: couples counseling may not be covered by some insurance plans.
