Your First Visit
It is our pleasure and privilege to have this opportunity to get to know you and your stories. This page is intended to introduce you to our ways of practicing.
Therapeutic Approach: As you already know, we use a narrative approach to therapy and consulting. Please click here for more information about Narrative Therapy.
Length of Sessions: Therapy sessions are 45-50 minutes in length.
Confidentiality: As licensed professionals, we are bound by HIPAA privacy laws. What is discussed during therapy sessions remains private unless YOU REQUEST IN WRITING that we share information with another person. Relevant confidential information is disclosed ONLY when we have concerns regarding your imminent safety or the safety of your children, or someone else. Your signature on the information sheet confirms we have offered you this information about HIPAA, both verbally and in writing.
Cancellation and Tardiness: Please cancel and/or reschedule appointments at least 24 hours in advance by calling the Center's main phone number, 544-5342, (not by email), to ensure that we get your message in a timely fashion. If you do not cancel accordingly, you will be charged the full amount for the session. Payment is due at the time of service. We accept cash or checks made out to "CNP". A $5.00 charge will be added if payment is delayed.
For last minute cancellations due to illness or weather, please call your counselor directly at the cell phone number listed below:
| Jodi Aman: | 585-233-8979 |
| Peggy Gold: | 585-766-3082 |
| Nancy Coughlin: | 585-315-6674 |

Payment will be necessary prior to scheduling future visits. Please make every effort to be on time for sessions. If you arrive late, we will be unable to meet with you for the entire 50 minutes, in order to accommodate sessions scheduled after you. We can meet for the remainder of the time reserved for you. In turn, we will also ensure that we are on time for your meetings, as your time is of the utmost importance when we are meeting.
Emergencies: You may call your counselor's cell phone 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency. In the case we have arranged coverage due to being out of town, information about who to contact in an emergency will be on the Center's voice mail.
Please Note: If we are billing your medical insurance for our meetings, we are required to bill under a diagnosis code. The most common codes we use are adjustment disorder with depressed mood or anxiety. Please feel free to ask us any questions about this, or let us know if you want to participate more fully in completing billing forms.
