Our Counselors

Jodi Aman, LCSW-R, Our Founder and Director

Jodi Aman About Jodi…

I have been counseling and consulting with children and adults since 1994. It is the greatest job in the world. I constantly meet new people and be a witness to how their values and beliefs help them get through emotional pain and hard times. I am inspired everyday by their skills and abilities. This is why I started the Center for Narrative Practice in 2005: to have a greater impact by joining with and training other counselors in helping people find hope. Seeing people happier and more joyful through counseling is my favorite part of the job. I give special attention to working with children, teens, couples, families and adults struggling with the effects of trauma and anxiety, including panic, flashbacks, childhood physical and sexual abuse, victim of violence, combat/refugee, experience, grief and loss, school anxiety, peer abuse and eating disorders.

When I am not counseling, consulting or teaching, I enjoy writing, gardening and hiking with my family. I have a passion for the environment and try to inspire other organizations to be greener. I also have a passion for learning that is not limited to any topic!

Don Boice, LCSW-R

Don Boice About Don…

I have been a counselor since 1989 and have learned many ways to help people help themselves. There have been many trainings to increase my ability to effectively work with different populations. As a result, there is not just one philosophy but many that are in my repertoire. My goal is to help as many people as possible, as profoundly as possible.

At this point, I am mainly working with people who are in a romantic relationship and need help communicating clearly (consciously communicate from one gender to the other) in order to save their relationship. Within that context, there are many other skills I teach. Also, many people need to learn relaxation tools and I thoroughly enjoy teaching and practing that.

They have input into how they want to work. The client is the center and I take my lead from them. I also rely heavily on the client doing work between sessions to enhance the time we spend together. Many clients have asked me to teach them skills that they believe they lack and in this way they become less dependent on a therapist. Oftentimes, they have the skill within them and it is a matter of helping them find the skill and applying it.

Nancy Coughlin, LCSW-R

Nancy Coughlin About Nancy…

I have been working as a therapist for over seven years. It has been a priviledge to witness the stories that people tell me and to walk with them on their journey of feeling better. Practicing the narrative approach has helped me listen for the unexpected and interesting initiatives people take. I have a flexible schedule to meet my clients needs. I enjoy working with adults and teenagers.

When I am not witnessing people's stories, I am spending time with family, friends and our animals, and enjoying the outdoors.

Peggy Gold, MS, NCC, LMHC

Peggy Gold About Peggy…

I have always believed in people's ability to improve their lives and live more happily. I strive to help people reach their fullest potential by focusing on strengths and utilizing their unique gifts and experiences to better their lives.

I have been practicing for the past 11 years with both children and adults in a variety of contexts. I worked as an addictions, mental health counselor, and child development specialist. It was because of my belief in a strength-based, respectful approach to working with people that I was drawn to Narrative Therapy. I have a Masters degree in Counseling from the University of Rochester, I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) through the State of New York.

If you want to try something different, respectful, fun, and gratifying, give Narrative a try! Please visit my website for much more info on Narrative, as well as testimonials and information about my practice.
