I have had the pleasure of being a counselor since 1995. Earning my counseling degree from Teacher's College, Columbia University, I later became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). I have spent most of my career working with adolescents and young adults grappling with social issues, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, family conflict, and history of trauma. In additional to my private practice, I am the drug specialist at Penfield High School. I continually admire the hope, resilience, skills and gifts people possess despite difficult circumstances. Successful therapy is about helping people realize or remember how much they can positively impact their own lives and sometimes the lives of others. Everyone has values and is valuable. Sometimes the values are hidden or forgotten, but they exist. Change happens when people connect with what is important to them. They begin to have hope and from there, life can get better.
