Keith Wilson, LMHC, CASAC
I’m a licensed mental health counselor and certified alcohol and substance abuse counselor helping adults, adolescents, and couples imagine new lives for themselves since 1986. I tend to be more interactive than many counselors and strive to be clear and direct, down-to-earth and practical. I have found that nothing is as important as the working alliance that the counselor and the client build together.

I strive to create a private, non-judgmental environment that feels like a natural, normal conversation, but turns out to be like no other conversation you've ever had.

Being a counselor is not all I’ve done. I raised a family of four children, built a house, farmed, and ran a small sawmill. Wanting something different, I attended Empire State College and got a degree in psychology.

Since then, I’ve worked at various places: a VA chemical dependency unit, a group home with troubled adolescents, took calls on a crisis line, and facilitated group therapy for male sex offenders. For twenty years, I was a psychotherapist at Unity, a community mental health center in Rochester, NY.

I completed a master's degree in education with an emphasis on counseling from Alfred University, studied at the Family Therapy Institute at the University of Rochester, and completed a certification program in drug and alcohol counseling associated with SUNY Brockport.

I have worked with practically every issue that people bring to counseling, including addiction, depression, anxiety, and trauma.

I wrote and published several short stories and a novel, Fate's Janitors: Mopping Up Madness at a Mental Health Clinic. I currently write a blog, The Narrative Imperative: Tell Stories or Die. See link off CNP home page.

Now you know something about me. Please tell me something about you and what we could work on together.
